Sorry I’ve been MIA but I cut three of my fingers on Monday trying to change a broken light bulb and it really hurts to type! My wounds are healing, slowly but surely, but I probably should have gotten stitches right after it happened. It’s just that I was planning on making crab au gratin for dinner and there was no way I was going to spend the evening in the emergency room instead of with my family savoring a nice meal ‘cuz my priorities are all wacked up like that!
Mother’s Day here was wonderful. The girls woke me up with coffee and a bouquet of flowers from the yard
before we rushed off to church. I wore the lovely beaded necklace that Pinkie gave me. Isn’t it so gorgeous?! She worked on it all week long!
After church we came home and boiled the biggest crab legs I have ever seen
then stuffed ourselves silly before heading outside to work in the new vegetable beds that Mr. K built me as my mother’s Day gift.
After we did all the work we could stand, we chilled out by the pool then Miss Priss surprised me by setting up a spa inside the house complete with a mani-pedi station, a facial station, and a makeup station. Then she proceeded to pamper me and Pinkie—isn’t that the sweetest?! We didn’t have any cucumbers so here is Pinkie with pickle slices on her eyes!
Yesterday, Pinkie and I had another great afternoon just hanging by the pool and playing with her new fairy Barbie dolls in our plants aka “The Bigger Valley”
Even the Barbies got in some chill time!
And then, this evening while Miss Priss was at youth group, Pinkie and I went out to dinner at our favorite diner (I always get the same TO DIE FOR chicken and feta salad; Pinkie had Oreo pancakes, the dinner of champions) then walked across the street to CVS so Pinkie could spend the $2 she had burning a hole in her pocket! She chose to spend it on two tubes of 99 cent lipstick—one in hot pink and one in bright red. She says she is wearing one to school tomorrow. When they see her, the other mothers will think she is a pageant child FOR SURE! After Pinkie paid for her cosmetics, the cashier gave her own receipt and I think she was even more excited about that than the two new tubes on lipstick! Next, we walked over to the ice cream parlor and had some ice cream before it was time to pick up Miss Priss. I just love that good weather is FINALLY here and we can be outside again!

Your Mother's Day sounded wonderful. I am so glad that your family spoiled you...
You & I have the same kind of priorities. Those crab legs yum-o! That's Sassy's new favorite thing to eat & I'm loving the pickles!
Hope your fingers are better! But I get it about making the crabcakes and not wanting to waste all that time in the ER! Love your necklace. It's stunning!
Sorry about the injury! Take care of yourself. And the Mother's Day recap is just too precious! Warm weather is just the best!! xoxo
Ouch! So sorry to hear about your fingers. Hope they heal quickly so you can get back to regular posting.
Looks like a wonderful Mother's Day. Is it already warm enough in New England to swim?
PS Thanks for the Italian salad recipe. It looks great!
